Paul Black

Paul was introduced to Bluegrass music when he was a young boy by his dad while growing up in North Louisiana. "My dad really enjoyed bluegrass and it was the only music he would listen to," says Paul. "When ever we had the chance we would go to festivals. I really liked listening to groups like Flatt & Scruggs, Bill Monroe, Ralph Stanley, and Jimmy Martin. It was the kind of music that would make you want to sing along." Paul started playing around with a cheap guitar that was given to him by his brother, but he didn't get serious about playing until about three years ago after going to a festival in the Houston area. He took his family and soon purchased a guitar and started really trying to play the kind of music he had always loved to hear. Paul now makes his home in Houston. When he is not traveling with his job in the LP Gas industry, he truly enjoys playing and singing the old style "traditional" Bluegrass and trying to duplicate the good music of people like Ricky Skaggs and the groups mentioned above. "May God bless, good pickin' and singin'."
